2-Step Verification: First-Time Setup Using the Microsoft Authenticator App

Install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your personal device

1. On your personal device (cellphone), download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app from your app store.
   
2. Open the app and tap OK to accept the Data Privacy notification.
   Note: At any point in the setup process, the app may prompt you to allow notifications and camera access. It needs both to function.
   
3. Leave it on the "Add your first account" screen and go on to the next section.
   

Set up 2-step verification

1. On a Publix workstation or personal computer, go to this website: https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info/?tenantId=publix.com
   • If your email address shows up on the Microsoft screen, click Next. Otherwise, enter your Publix email address (see instructions below) and password, and click Sign in.
     Note: For associates who have a Publix email address, you can find your primary email address in the Outlook Address Book under the Email Address column. 
   • If you don’t have a Publix email address, use the following format.
     • Support associates: yourPublixUserID@publix.com
     • Store associates: yourPublixUserID@publix.com
   • If the “Security info” page shows up, continue with the steps below.

2. On the "Security info" page, click Add method.

3. On the “Add a method” window, select your method from the drop-down list and click Add.

4. On the Microsoft Authenticator window, click Next.

5. Click Next from the “Set up your account” window.
Result: A QR code will appear on the “Microsoft Authenticator” window on your computer. 

6. Switch to the Authenticator app on your phone and select Scan a QR code.

7. Scan the QR code with your phone’s camera.

8.  Follow instructions on the phone to accept notifications.

10. On your computer screen where the QR code is showing, click Next.
Note: If the Mobile app configuration fails please try again by clicking Set up. On your phone, select "Add account" from the Authenticator app menu and scan again

  11. Click Next on the Additional security verification window.

12.  On your phone, approve the sign-in request.

14. Review your settings. If they are correct, close the window. Do not click on the Restore button.

Enable phone sign-in (passwordless) optional

Use the app to securely sign in to your Publix account from a personal device without entering your password. This is the most secure (and Publix-recommended) method to access your Publix account.

1. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app.

2. Select your Publix account.

3. Select Enable phone sign-in, and follow the prompts to complete set up.

4. Log in to PASSport and select Other ways to sign in.

Note: It may take up to 5 minutes for the change to be visible.

5. Select Approve a request on my Microsoft Authenticator app.    

You can switch between password and passwordless authentication by selecting Other ways to sign in from the login screen. The system will automatically remember the last sign-in method you used.
