Publix Pharmacy launches low-price prescription drug program

Jan. 16, 2018

Thanks to a new program from the Publix Pharmacy, associates and customers can now receive up to a 90-day supply of certain generic medications for $7.50. The program includes some of the most commonly prescribed medications used to treat a variety of conditions.

“Our founder, George Jenkins, taught us to take care of people and our communities, and making needed medications more affordable provides us this opportunity,” said Director of Media and Community Relations Maria Brous. “Healthcare costs continue to rise, so sometimes people have a hard time filling their prescriptions as regularly as they should. We believe this low price will help encourage customers to follow their doctor’s orders so they can experience better health outcomes.”

The price is the same for everyone, regardless of insurance coverage. Publix Pharmacy believes providing a clearly stated, low price will help people plan their out-of-pocket costs for these medications and make it easier for them to take their medications as prescribed. When patients do not take medications as prescribed, it can lead to worsening conditions and, sometimes, a trip to the hospital.

Twenty-nine medications with a total of 85 dosage options are available through the program. They include highly-prescribed treatments for

  • heart health/cardiovascular
  • diabetes
  • cholesterol
  • mental health
  • seizure disorders
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • osteoporosis
  • gout
  • arthritis/pain
  • gastrointestinal
  • asthma and allergies
  • men’s health and
  • women’s health.

A full list of included medications and dosages is available at www.publix.com/medslist. In addition to the new program, current associates can receive up to a 90-day supply of additional generic medications for $9 through the Associate Prescription Discount Program. In the event a medication and dosage is listed for both the new program and the Associate Prescription Discount Program, the lower $7.50 price will apply.
