Peace Officers Memorial Day

May 15, 2019

In 1963, President John F. Kennedy designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day to honor those officers who, through their courageous actions, have lost their lives or have become disabled performing their duties.

As we continue Mr. George’s legacy by doing the right thing and serving our communities, it’s only fitting that we observe this day and express our gratitude for the dedicated service and courageous deeds of law enforcement officers, and their contributions to the security and well-being of our communities.

In honor of law enforcement officers who have lost their lives or become disabled in the line of duty, Publix will observe Peace Officers Memorial Day by flying the U.S. flags at half-staff.
