We’re named on Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies list for 2024

We’ve been recognized on Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies list for 2024, ranking No. 49. We have been named on the list annually since 1996.

We’re dedicated to taking care of our associates. From company ownership to our promote-from-within culture, we believe in investing in our associates to retain top talent. As part of our commitment to associates, we recently made an additional investment in our associates by enhancing paid time off.

We’re also committed to serving our communities. Alleviating hunger is at the heart of our charitable efforts. With our hunger-alleviation campaign, our customers come together twice a year to donate at the register to provide the food items needed most by local food banks. Alongside customer contributions, we purchased and donated $10 million in fresh produce in 2023 to Feeding America partner food banks. Together, through customer and company contributions, nearly $23 million was raised to help feed our neighbors in need last year. 

In addition to hunger-alleviation efforts, we also work to care for the environment. We collaborate with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant trees by using a portion of the proceeds from reusable bag sales. Over a 2-year period, we helped plant 430,000 trees in Econfina Creek, a forest ecosystem in Florida devastated by Hurricane Michael in 2018, and in 2023, we celebrated planting our millionth tree overall. Planting trees helps restore habitats for wildlife and reduces water runoff.
