Flags lowered in memory of Senator Dianne Feinstein

Oct. 03, 2023

The Publix family joins our nation in mourning Sen. Dianne Feinstein and honoring her legacy.

For 31 years, Feinstein served as a United States senator from California, making her the longest-serving woman in the Senate. She was a pioneer for women and made her mark on everything from national security to protecting civil liberties.

Feinstein, who served as mayor of San Francisco, among other roles, prior to being elected to the Senate in 1992, was also the first woman to head the Senate Intelligence Committee during her time in Washington. Her husband died last year, and she is survived by a daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter.

As a mark of solemn respect for the passing of Feinstein on Sept. 29, President Joe Biden has ordered all U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff until sunset on the day of interment, Thursday, Oct. 5.
