Flags lowered in memory of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor

The Publix family joins our nation in mourning retired Associate Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and honoring her legacy . 

She served as the first woman on the Supreme Court of the United States from 1981 until 2006. She spent her career committed to the stable center, pragmatic and in search of common ground. 

In recognition of her lifetime accomplishments, President Barack Obama awarded her with the nation’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, on Aug. 12, 2009.  

As a mark of solemn respect for the passing of O’Connor on Dec. 1, President Joe Biden has ordered all U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff until sunset on the day of interment, Tuesday, Dec. 19. Flags at all Publix support locations will be lowered to half-staff.
