Flags lowered in honor of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Sep. 08, 2022

Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch in the United Kingdom’s history, died Sept. 8. She was 96.

Born Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary on April 21, 1926, she married Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in 1947. The couple had 4 children and were married until his death in 2021. Elizabeth began her reign on Feb. 6, 1952, at age 25.

President  Joe Biden said, “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was more than a monarch. She defined an era. Queen Elizabeth II always led with grace, an unwavering commitment to duty and the incomparable power of her example. Her legacy will loom large in the pages of British history, and in the story of our world.”

As a mark of solemn respect for Queen Elizabeth II, President Biden has ordered all U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff until sunset on the day of interment. Publix will lower flags at all support locations to half-staff.
