Emergency pandemic pay will be updated June 12

June 07, 2021

In March 2020, we began offering emergency pandemic pay to cover your absences connected with the coronavirus. As the availability of COVID-19 vaccine doses has increased and the number of positive cases has continued to decrease in the communities throughout our operating area, we have decided to update our emergency pandemic pay, starting June 12.

Updated criteria for emergency pandemic pay and excused absences

We are offering emergency pandemic pay for and will excuse eligible absences when:

  • Publix issues a self-quarantine due to a COVID-19 exposure at work from another associate or during business-related travel with an individual who has a positive laboratory result, not just evidence of antibodies, and/or a medical diagnosis of the coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.
  • During the Publix-directed self-quarantine, you receive a
    • positive laboratory result, not just evidence of antibodies, and/or
    • medical diagnosis of the coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.

You will not qualify if you’re requested to self-quarantine due to exposure outside of work with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 or after personal travel.

COVID-19 vaccination

We encourage, but do not require, you to get vaccinated. If you’re interested and at least 18 years old, you can get vaccinated at a Publix Pharmacy. Walk-ins are welcome or you can schedule an appointment online at publix.com/covidvaccine. For ages 14 – 17, you’re eligible to receive a Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, which is not available at Publix. You can check your state’s department of health website for more information about COVID-19 vaccinations.
