Enhancements to tuition reimbursement program

Beginning Jan. 1, 2022, Publix will provide you more opportunities to help pay for furthering your education. Our tuition reimbursement program is expanding eligibility for associates, adding more areas of study and increasing reimbursement limits.

Eligibility and approval 

Eligibility for you to participate in the program will change from after 6 months of continuous employment to after 90 days of continuous employment. Store associates may also get approval from their assistant store manager if their store manager or district manager is unavailable. 

Areas of study 

The complete list of majors eligible for reimbursement are below, with newly added majors in bold: 

  • accounting 
  • business administration 
  • business/data analytics 
  • business management 
  • communications/public relations 
  • computer engineering 
  • computer network services 
  • computer programming 
  • computer science 
  • cybersecurity 
  • economics 
  • engineering (electrical or mechanical) 
  • finance 
  • human resources/management 
  • industrial engineering 
  • information technology 
  • management information systems 
  • marketing/advertising 
  • pre-pharmacy (biology, chemistry or other majors are acceptable if leading to pharmacy school) 
  • supply chain management and
  • sustainability management. 

Increased reimbursement limits 

Annual and lifetime limits for tuition reimbursement opportunities are increasing for undergraduate programs, technical/occupational programs and individual courses. The lifetime limit is increasing for graduate programs. 

  • 2-year programs, individual courses and technical programs 
    • The annual calendar limit for community and 2-year college programs will increase from $1,700 to $2,200. 
    • The lifetime limit for community and 2-year college programs will increase from $3,400 to $4,400. 
  • 4-year programs 
    • The annual calendar limit for 4-year college or university programs will increase from $3,200 to $4,000. 
    • The lifetime limit for 4-year college or university programs will increase from $12,800 to $16,000. 
  • Graduate programs 
    • The lifetime limit for graduate programs will increase from $12,800 to $16,900. 

Current and former program enrollees 

If you are still enrolled in your approved area of study as of Jan. 1, 2022, but have previously reached the lifetime limit, you are now eligible for the increased lifetime limit.

If you have completed your program of choice, you will be eligible for additional tuition reimbursement opportunities if you use the program again for a different eligible area of study and meet the qualification requirements.

Additional details on PASSport

All new program enhancements, including new forms, will be added to PASSport by Dec. 31, 2021.
