Publix commemorates Pearl Harbor Day
Dec. 07, 2021
It’s been 80 years since 2,403 lives were lost at Pearl Harbor in Oahu, Hawaii, when Japanese forces attacked a U.S. naval station. The events of that day led to the United States declaring war on Japan and entering World War II.
Each year, we recognize Dec. 7 as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day to honor the lives lost that day. We also pay tribute to those who served in our military and gave the ultimate sacrifice in the 4 years we fought in World War II.
Each year as a mark of solemn respect, the U.S. flag is ordered to be flown at half-staff through sunset on Dec. 7. The U.S. flag was lowered yesterday to pay tribute to former U.S. Senator Robert Joseph “Bob” Dole and will be at half-staff through sunset Dec. 9. Publix will continue to have flags at half-staff at all support locations.
