Walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations available in 3 states

April 30, 2021

Starting May 3, Publix Pharmacy locations in Alabama, North Carolina and Tennessee will accept walk-in customers who want to get the COVID-19 vaccine, in addition to those who schedule appointments online, while supplies last.

Our pharmacies only administer to eligible individuals ages 18 and older due to the vaccines we offer. However, individuals ages 16 and 17 are eligible to receive a Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, which is not available at Publix. You can check your state’s department of health website for more information about COVID-19 vaccinations.

Walk-in vaccinations

Walk-in vaccinations are available for eligible individuals in Alabama, North Carolina and Tennessee. Associates who wish to receive a walk-in vaccination must be off the clock for the vaccination and observation period. You will be able to choose between the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines, pending availability and while supplies last. Those who receive the Moderna vaccine will be provided with an appointment to receive their second dose. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine requires only one dose.

Online appointments

Appointments are required in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Virginia and are available in all 7 states where we have stores. Appointments can be made through the online reservation system at publix.com/covidvaccine. You can use the online reservation system to learn if appointments are available at your store or a nearby store. Appointments cannot be made by calling Publix or the Publix Pharmacy.

Your Publix gift card

If you choose to be vaccinated, you can receive a $125 Publix gift card after completing the full COVID-19 vaccination. Visit the COVID-19 Vaccine page for more details.

Costs and insurance

COVID 19 vaccinations are provided at no cost to you. Be prepared to provide your health insurance card or red, white and blue Medicare Part B card. If you don’t have insurance, have your driver’s license or Social Security number available to complete your registration, if you have one.
