Publix commemorates Fire Prevention Week

Oct. 04, 2020

Since 1925, the United States has observed Fire Prevention Week to promote emergency preparedness, reaffirm our commitment to fire safety and honor those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Started by President Calvin Coolidge to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, Fire Prevention Week always includes Oct. 9; this year, the week is Oct. 4 – 10.

To pay tribute to Fire Prevention Week and honor fallen firefighters, President Trump has ordered the U.S. flag to be flown at half-staff today, Oct. 4. As a mark of solemn respect, Publix will fly all flags at half-staff.

At Publix, we are grateful for the first responders who do all they can to protect our communities each and every day.
