We're growing in North Carolina with a new distribution center

Feb. 27, 2020

We’re excited to announce we broke ground today on a new refrigerated distribution center in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The center, which will be over 940,000 square feet, is expected to be completed by the end of 2022. It will support our stores throughout the Carolinas and Virginia and create up to 1,000 jobs by 2025.

“The Greensboro Distribution Center will play a key role in supporting our growth in the region,” said CEO Todd Jones. “The hundreds of new associates who join the Publix family will help us provide the premier service our customers have come to expect.”

In keeping with Mr. George’s philosophy of giving back, two local nonprofit organizations were also presented donations. BackPack Beginnings and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina each received $2,500 in support of their programs to help alleviate hunger by providing children with backpacks of food.

The Greensboro facility will be our 10th distribution center, joining Florida locations in Boynton Beach, Deerfield Beach, Jacksonville, Lakeland, Miami, Orlando and Sarasota; Lawrenceville, Georgia; and McCalla, Alabama.
