Publix honors Pearl Harbor Day

Dec. 07, 2020

On Dec. 7, 1941, more than 2,400 lives were lost when a U.S. naval station in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, was the target of a surprise attack by Japan. The attack led to the United States declaring war on Japan and entering World War II.

Today, our nation recognizes Dec. 7 as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. We honor the lives lost that day and pay tribute to those who served and gave the ultimate sacrifice in the 4 years America fought in this war.

To commemorate this day, President Trump has ordered all U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff. As a mark of solemn respect, Publix will lower flags at all offices and stores.

At Publix, we are grateful for the military personnel who served in World War II, as well as all service members and their families who continue to make sacrifices to serve our country every day.
